Of GOD Alone
Each loving touch for fevered brow;
Every kiss for someone dear;
Every arm supporting the weak;
All vision to see things clear --
All are blessings of GOD alone.
Strength to hold; heart to care;
Desire to relieve; seeing aright;
Faith in Jesus; compassion to show;
Wisdom given by true Light --
All -- precious gifts of GOD alone.
Grace! Salvation! Christ's finished work!
LIGHT to and through children of GOD!
Who gives these things? Who makes plain
Things in and of the will of the LORD?
All are works of the Triune GOD.
To GOD alone, then be our praise --
Praise for His calling, drawing, leading;
Praises for strength, guidance, and Light;
Praise for His mercies and forgiveness!
Praise for His WORD - teaching right!
Surely there is no life without HIM!
We can but fail in and of ourselves.
O to follow His paths of PEACE!
For, our hearts' need, GOD alone quells.
May our hearts sing to His praise!
By the mercies of God,

By THY Showers
Dear LORD WHO eternally reigns,
We live only by Thy showers --
Showers of mercy, showers of kindness -
Strength of life and hours.
These showers, from THEE alone,
Are the very building blocks of life - -
Foundational, not of our making;
Strengthening - - not of mortal strife.
O to perceive these showers clearly - -
And Thy kindness, with thankful heart!
To ever stand in awe of Thy Love,
Which none but THEE can impart!
By the mercies of God,

Indwelling LIGHT
O Holy Spirit WHO indwells,
How we need Thy Light in our hearts
To drive anything contrary to THEE
From us, our minds, our thoughts.
It is in Jesus Name we pray;
And, in His Name, we confess
Our great need of Thy leading,
And our desires for peace and rest.
Let fellowship in/of GOD alone
Be central to our aim.
Guide us aright; forgive, dear LORD
All errors to our shame.
Please heal our ails; this, our prayer - -
Thy will be done; and, Thine, alone.
O bear us above the pitfalls here,
Till Jesus returns to carry us Home.
By the mercies of God,

Home
Home - - far beyond the highest mountains;
Home, on yonder glim'ring shore;
Home, where storm clouds never gather;
Home, where all, the LORD, adore!
Home, where LIGHT is ever present;
Home, where PEACE forever reigns;
Home, where praise of GOD is ringing;
Home, where never enters pain!
Home, where none shall e'er be burdened;
Home, where all shall know pure joy;
Home, where sadness is unheard of!
Toward Home, my heart is tending so!
By the mercies of God,

Thirsty as the Corn Plant
Look upon, consider, the corn plant,
Reaching upward and outward,
Its roots spreading downward - -
All its need clear before GOD.
It blades that twisted in hot sunshine,
Are refreshed in dewy morning.
Notice dew puddle to run down blades,
Around stalks to roots -- drink from GOD.
O how dry heat can wither corn plants!
Don't our hearts too shrink at times --
Till the very Dew of Heaven surrounds us,
Distills, and fills your heart and mine?
Great refreshing! The heart sings;
As, we're lifted up to view
Mercies of GOD in all wonders
Spread above and all around me and you.
Thankful for the reviving Dew of Heaven,
By the mercies of God,

There with the LORD
The believer's body rests in peace;
But, the spirit has been borne
Into GOD's presence forever --
Home where no hurt can come.
Nothing disturbs the heart there;
There can be no worry or pain,
Nothing can dim Perfect Day;
Nothing can hide the SON;
O to think of the joyous song!
To think, there can be no night
There, where hosts sing unbroken praise
To GOD WHO is LOVE and LIGHT!
By the mercies of God,

Dear Child, Fear Not
O dear child, fear not.
The LORD of Life fails not;
Stay heart upon HIM;
For faithful is HE!
Stop all your fretting --
Worry for nothing;
Employ faith given,
GOD's goodness -- to see.
Has HE not led you
Past many trials?
Has HE not kept you
Safely, beside?
Has HE not giv'n you
Unnumbered blessings?
Has HE not proven
Guard, Shield, and Guide?
Then, dear child, fear not;
Trust for His mercies;
Know that HE cares
Ever for His own.
HE WHO sees the sparrow,
Values you better.
Thank HIM; yes, thank GOD
For kindness HE's shown!
By the mercies of God,

Grant Showers of Mercy
If THOU, LORD of Life, send clouds
Like those passing high above --
If THOU direct them to release rain
To fall upon us by Thy Love,
Thirsting gardens will revive again;
Cracked ground will soften and expand
With the gift of drink that comes
Only from Thine unfailing hand.
THOU makest corn grow straight and tall,
Dark and green, bountifully eared;
And, golden squash to form on plants;
And, bean vines envelop fences near.
By THEE, okra thrives in summer's heat;
It too only lives by of Thy rain.
O bless the ground, the garden, and us;
Grant showers of mercy, dear LORD, again.
By the mercies of God,
