Sweet Hope

Sweet, so sweet, Hope arises
Within our breasts to calm,
Speaking GOD's peace unto us,
Like a most-glorious dawn.

Sweet, so sweet, the assurance
That - - though we miserably fail,
GOD is the answer, the cure, our Hope - -
Because of Christ, all is well.

Better than bread to a beggar,
GOD's Word fills - - HE satisfies.
HE speaks to hearts; His will is done.
HE hears His children's cries.

Then, child, trust HIM, and rest.
HE knows your weakest state.
Pour out your heart unto HIM
Who bids great storms abate.

By the mercies of God,

Adoration and Praise

Now to Almighty GOD
Be all our heartfelt praise
For life and breath - - wondrous gifts;
For strength for all our days!

Unto the LORD Most-High,
We yield of thankful hearts - -
Praises for HIS Love and Light;
For great joy HE imparts.

And, to Omniscient GOD,
Psalms and hymns we raise - -
Awed at His perfect wisdom;
Embracing His Truth in lays.

Before Omnipresent GOD
O let us humbly bow,
Thanking HIM - - He ne'er forsakes;
That, HE is with us now!

Amen

By the mercies of God,

Every Moment Rests Upon THEE

Never a moment, LORD, but we need THEE - -
We have not a single breath without THEE!
We truly cannot live or stand alone - -
Apart from Thy power, life cannot be.

Never a hand that's abled to labor;
Never a mortal mind blessed to think;
Never the gifts of hearing and vision - -
No blessings of life exist but of THEE!

THOU - the Truth, the Way, the Life - our Hope,
Art HE WHO provides us strength to work.
Thy wondrous Grace can never be known, LORD,
Except THOU givest life and light first.

LORD, please ever defend the helpless - -
Shield/guard them about on all sides;
Do that which we cannot - - enwrap them in safety;
Within Thine arms, these little lambs - - hide.

Thine be the glory! To THEE be all praises!
Bless us with eyes of faith set on THEE.
And, LORD of Love and all power, teach us
That our every moment rests upon THEE!

By the mercies of God,

Where is GOD Found

Where, find communion with GOD?
Must I climb some mountain peak?
Or, should I walk in a quiet path?
Where is the LORD Whom I seek?

Is HE somewhere off in the wilds?
His majesty, held in endless sky?
Is HE beyond the moon and stars
And bright comets that streak by?

Must I build some lovely arbor
For my LORD to meet me there?
No! No, a thousand times over!
For, GOD is present everywhere.

HIS Holy Spirit dwells in hearts - -
Closer than brother or friends.
HIS voice, HIS power can never fail.
HE's everywhere! Who comprehends?

By the mercies of God,

The LORD Our Peace

Our peace is not free; it was paid for with blood - -
The blood of our Savior which HE freely shed!
Faithful ones today are yet standing for the cause
Of this ONE WHO completely fulfilled GOD's Law!

Praise GOD for blessings of wonderful freedom - -
O children, sing with thanksgiving unto HIM!
Praise to conquering, Almighty LORD of hosts - -
Our Hightower, Guard, and Shield! Amen.

Praise to the LORD for known mercies gone by.
Praise GOD Ever-Present; praise GOD Ever-Nigh!
Safely HE leads HIS children along in the Way.
Let us attest, we're borne on HIS wings night and day!

Praise for HIS bounty by which we are blessed;
Praise GOD for shelter - - for homes where we rest!
Yes, children extol HIS perfectly glorious Name!
When we fail to praise HIM, our clothing be shame.

Peace! Can you feel it now soothing your breast - -
That blessing of GOD that so yields its sweet rest?
Praise GOD - - TRUTH, PEACE, and RIGHTEOUSNESS and LOVE!
Praises! Sing praises to the LORD above!

Have a blessed, happy, and safe 4th of July 2008!

The Rain Has Come

At tin roof's overhang of old house,
Big round tears of rain appear
To quickly fall in diamond strings - -
Hyphenated, crystal clear,

Perfectly straight in their descent
To time-worn basins beneath.
This - - a show long-awaited.
Of GOD's mercies, it speaks.

There's thrumming on the rooftop
There's shishing upon the lawn;
Drops' and splats' resound in trees - -
O the rain, blest rain has come!

How does it smell? Essence of clean - -
Air stirred/scrubbed by pelting!
We sit on porch, Mother and I,
Enjoying this blessing-enveloping.

By the mercies of God,
