Praises O LORD unto THEE
[might be sung to tune of "Jesus, I Come"]
O LORD, we're greatly blessed by Thy LOVE!
Praises to THEE! praises to THEE!
What tender mercies, ours from above!
Praises dear LORD unto THEE!
Praises for good rest -- ours in the night;
Praises for morn and revealing light;
Praises for food and shelter and drink;
Praises O LORD unto THEE!
Praises for clothing! praises for homes!
Praises, we're never left here alone!
Praise for Thy Kingdom! praises for faith!
Praises for Peace, for sweet Hope and Grace!
Praise for the Love of Jesus Thy SON!
Mercies unto us, through HIS works, come!
Praises, dear LORD, for wonders untold!
Praises from sheep of Thy fold!
By the mercies of God,

One Little Soldier
One little soldier, LORD,
How I desire to be --
To serve THEE faithfully in life,
Giving all praise to THEE!
One little soldier, let me be --
With naught of self to claim --
Thankful for Thy gifts unto me;
All honor to Thy name!
One little soldier, LORD,
With place at Thy dear feet,
Which Mary bathed with her tears --
Let me, too, LORD, praise THEE!
By the mercies of God,

Heart's Stirrings
There's flu in the nursing home.
So feeble, those living there!
LORD, bless all the residents --
Ever keep them in THY care.
So many people suffer, LORD!
THOU knowest all their pains.
Grant them healing, be it THY will;
Give joy and relief again!
And, our children, we hold in hearts,
As we think of the world we're in --
A world so dark and treacherous
With many pathways of sin.
LORD, please bless the children;
Hold them up, lest they fall;
Lead them in Thy blessed Way,
O THOU WHO see'st all!
How thankful, wondrous LORD,
Our hearts are made to be;
That, THOU hearest prayers
And doth set sufferers free!
Wondrous Balm for troubled hearts,
WHO embraces in loving care --
THOU hast eased our burdens.
We thank THEE for hearing prayer!
By the mercies of God,

Only by GOD's Works
Not one breath ever comes;
Not the first beams of daylight;
Not one step upon arising;
Not the first perceived sight --
None happen, but we're blessed --
Except by things wrought of GOD.
May we start this day with thanks;
Turn to HIM in humble thought.
It's humbling, we're made aware
That GOD's is almighty power.
HE's Creator, Sustainer, omniscient!
Let time in praising HIM be spent!
By the mercies of God,

Breath, Sight, Hearing
Breath was ours before we knew it --
This wonder of life, GOD wrought.
We can't move without oxygen.
It's necessary, even for thought.
Hearing, another great blessing,
Largely helps us to be aware
Of things around us, noise, music,
And to know when others are near.
Sight -- for viewing the lovely sunrise
And majestic mountain peaks afar;
To view Nature bathed by the sun;
To behold moon, planets, stars;
To see, with awe, GOD's wonders --
A much-beloved babe in arms;
A mother's face etched by caring;
A grandfather's smile so warm.
We breath in of GOD's mercies;
We read and hear Truth of HIS Word;
O let tongue and pen praise HIM!
Let our hearts magnify the LORD!
Consider HIM and HIS works carefully --
Stand awed at HIS power on display;
Hear HIS storms; see how HE calms them.
Praise HIM -- the Truth, the Life, the Way!
By the mercies of God,

Our Little Ship
LORD, how our little ship is tossed
Here in the waters of life!
How mountains waves beset us,
Right and left, on every side,
Crashing, crashing -- all a'roar --
Their dark sprays beclouding o'er!
In the storms, we could lose heart,
But for Hope which THOU impart.
We're wholly lost, but for THEE!
Our vessel too small for this sea.
We're impotent with broken sail;
But, o'er all storms, THOU doth prevail!
By the mercies of God,

Unfailing Hand
Ever glorious, the LORD of Grace,
Whose works surround in every place!
HIS arms protect through darkest night;
HE keeps us safe to morning light.
The future is not ours to hold,
But GOD is always in control.
Nothing can escape HIS eye --
Not a sparrow falling from sky!
Yes, HE watches the little birds.
By HIM, faintest cries are heard.
HE loves best, for HE is LOVE --
Almighty GOD WHO reigns above!
Pour out your heart -- yield all to HIM.
HE is forever our greatest FRIEND.
The things we cannot understand --
Entrust to GOD's unfailing hand!
By the mercies of God,

Think How Blessed We Are!
Think how blessed we are
To meet in Jesus' name,
Unafraid -- unmolested --
To meet in peaceful frame!
Think how blessed we are!
We should rejoice in hearts,
And give thanks to GOD above,
As every service starts.
Think how blessed we are!
Then, adore the LORD our GOD
For HIS Grace abounding,
For great mercies on life's road.
By the mercies of God,

Burdens of Loved Ones
About us, there are problems;
Our hearts are daily pressed.
To fix the ills, we're impotent;
Attempts, feeble -- at best.
There's paralysis, and pain;
Some have work overload;
There are those with limitations
Which most will never know.
Still, Hope burns sweeter, brighter
Than all concerns within.
Things will not be perfect
In this old world of sin.
We turn to the LORD Almighty,
Seeking for a respite there --
Asking, trusting HIM to lighten
The burdens dear ones bear.
By the mercies of God,

Footprint
What footprint are we leaving
Here on the pathway of life?
Is it one to benefits others?
Will it lead to doubt and strife?
What are we teaching our children?
Are our examples to their good?
Does our walk portray strong faith,
That, "we follow the Lord" be understood?
Do we wander, forgetting HIS Way?
Do our directions often confuse?
May we be careful to stay in HIS path,
That our footprint be a marker unto Truth.
By the mercies of God,

Let Your Spirit Soar
Stretch -- enjoy the gift of movement;
Take deep breaths of fresh air in;
Fill your lungs; exhale completely --
Daylight greeting time again.
'Rouse your mind; set it to thinking --
GOD's rich Grace, meditate upon --
Think of HIS Love and mercies.
Let your heart fill with grateful song.
Your step be lighter, sure, and steady;
Your spirit be lifted to soar and fly,
As you consider how you're blessed.
On forever-faithful GOD, rely!
By the mercies of God,

Early Survey of Blessings
Are you able to arise this morning
And move from room to room?
Have you a well-stocked pantry
Of delicious foods to consume?
Can you hear sounds around you?
Have you vision, Creation, to scan?
Can you feel the warmth of sun?
Taste how good is the great I AM!
Smell the air's sweetness at daybreak.
Touch -- hold thankfully -- gifts of GOD.
Know you're wonderfully blest,
Given these things by the LORD!
By the mercies of God,

Loss for Jesus' Sake
Dying to the flesh for Jesus' sake --
What is that loss, if truly revealed?
Harmful desires, wicked ways,
And bitter thoughts concealed.
And, such love for earthly things --
That, things of GOD, one couldn't see.
For, carnal nature wants no devotion
To the Christ of Calvary!
What is such a life, when examined?
The focusing wholly on the selfish me!
A life reflecting no light of love
Of the One Who set us free!
O to die to that sinfulness!
To truly reflect the love of God!
To deny evils of carnality
Unto GOD's glory, on life's road!
By the mercies of God,

GOD's Works Precede
"You believe GOD chose just certain ones
And saved only them from their sins?
This, a lady asked my husband;
While, conversation, they were in.
"You believe, no matter what they do,
HE still claims HIS chosen of earth?"
"I believe GOD knows all HIS children"
Was one of his responses to her,
With, "do you always claim your children? --
Even when they're doing wrong?"
"Well, yes", she acknowledged she did.
Upon Salvation, the exchange went on.
She held to the theory, one must get saved --
One must find GOD before it's too late;
One must, by works, get right with GOD.
If one had such power, why would he need Grace!
We can't even move unless we're first blessed.
We've no understanding but that from GOD.
Could man, dead in sin, seek righteousness?
Enlightenment/Salvation is of the LORD.
By the mercies of God,

The HOPE of my Soul
The hand of GOD, the power of GOD
Has brought me to this day.
HE's greatly blessed and kept me;
Ever with me, HE does stay.
I'm comforted though I am weak --
More than sufficient is GOD!
HE is PEACE within my heart.
HIS name, let me applaud.
HIS LOVE so embraces me;
I'm thankful HE's in control.
This day, this hour, this moment --
HE's living HOPE to my soul.
By the mercies of God,

For Treasury Today
May the morning hold good treasures
As you wake to greet the day.
May the sunlight reveal pleasures
In a blest and wondrous way.
May you grow stronger, stronger,
In arms of GOD's loving care.
May you find in meditation
That HE's present with you there.
May the GOD of grace and mercy
Lift your heart and ease your mind --
That, in and of HIM you'll rejoice
For all blessings that you find.
By the mercies of God,

Jesus -- our Peace
Peace on earth, good will to men --
Peace -- Jesus, GOD's Son!
Indeed, HE came to earth to live
To save GOD's chosen ones.
HE left HIS perfect Home above
To do HIS FATHER's will;
Accomplished all he came to do --
GOD's law, HE totally fulfilled.
"I will not leave you comfortless:" --
HE promised disciples beloved.
And, when HE went away, HE sent
The Comforter from above.
O tell me now, do you not feel
HIS peace within your heart?
Praises, praises unto HIM
For Hope that HE imparts!

Works of The ALMIGHTY
O the works of Almighty GOD!
Who could measure to explain?
Who could reach HIS depths of LOVE
Or unveil the riches of HIS name?
Who understands Peace that is HIM?
Or, living Hope -- welling in heart?
Who deserves HIS great mercies?
Who earned faith GOD imparts?
Where, a voice like unto HIS
Still small voice that calms the seas?
Who dares claim the thunder's claps
And untouchable things as these?
All such wonders, we but view in awe
Of the Almighty GOD over all.
None can plumb the power of GOD
WHO by HIS works, the heart, enthralls!
By the mercies of God,
