What things did Christ Speak?
John 15:11 - These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and [that] your joy might be full.
I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman.
Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every [branch] that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.
Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.
Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.
I am the vine, ye [are] the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.
If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast [them] into the fire, and they are burned.
If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.
Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.
As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love.
If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and abide in his love.
Amen

There Is Mercy With God
Psalms 31:1 - In thee, O LORD, do I put my trust; let me never be ashamed: deliver me in thy righteousness.
2 Samuel 24:14 - And David said unto Gad, I am in a great strait: let us fall now into the hand of the LORD; for his mercies [are] great: and let me not fall into the hand of man.
David not only trusted his Lord when things were going well, he also trusted his Lord when he was in a hard place. In Psalms 31:15 David said, “My times [are] in thy hand:” Telling us that David understood that God was his Lord all the time not just some of the time or just when things seemed to be going in his favor.
In 2 Samuel 24:14 tells us that he trusted the justice of God over the justice of men. David knew that he had sinned against God and that a price was going to have to be paid for that sin. Given the choice of paying that price under the hand of man David chose his Lord because there is mercy with God.
My question this morning is do we trust God to deal with us in his mercy and wisdom or do we look to the intellect of men?

These Things We Write
1 John 1:4 - And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full.
I write no new commandment unto you, but an old commandment which ye had from the beginning.
A new commandment I write unto you, which things is true in him and in you: because the darkness is passed, and the true light not shineth.
I write unto you:
Because your sins are forgiven you for his sake
Because ye have known him that is from the beginning
Because ye have overcome the wicked one
Because ye have known the Father
Because ye have known him that is from the beginning
Because ye are strong, and the word of God abideth in you, and ye have overcome the wicked one
I have not written unto you because ye know not the truth, but because ye know it, and no lie is of the truth.
John wrote these things and more to us that we might know that we have been freed from the bondage of sin. John wrote these things and more that we would be able to rejoice in a truly great and merciful God. John wrote these things that we might be able to rejoice while we live. John wrote these things that we would be able to live while we rejoice.

Psalms 119:114
Psalms 119:114 - Thou [art] my hiding place and my shield: I hope in thy word.
David was a man of war and was well acquainted with the weapons of the day. From his experiences with Saul he understood what it meant to hide and to be hidden. David knew that in order for a shield to protect him from danger the shield had to be between him and the threat.
David’s hope, his assurance, his protection came from God. He said in Psalm 31:1 In thee, Oh Lord, do I put my trust. Today and everyday God is our shield, he is our hiding place, and he is our guide while we live in this world. God and his word is where we can put our trust without fear of him changing his mind or leaving us unprotected.
Even though we may wonder away from the shield from time to time let us remember that God is a very present help in time of trouble. Lets remember to come boldly to the throne of grace.
Amen

P-C-J-G
Romans 8:30 - Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.
Predestinate - appoint beforehand
Called - to call aloud, utter in a loud voice
Justified - to declare, pronounce, one to be just, righteous
Gloified - to make glorious, adorn with lustre, clothe with splendour
Romans 8:31 What shall we then say to these things? If God [be] for us, who [can be] against us?
What can I add to these things? These are things that God has done and I am glad the he did not leave them for me to do.

JOY
Psalms 5:11 - But let all those that put their trust in thee rejoice: let them ever shout for joy, because thou defendest them: let them also that love thy name be joyful in thee.
Psalms 5:12 - For thou, LORD, wilt bless the righteous; with favour wilt thou compass him as [with] a shield.
Joy - sing, rejoice, sing aloud, shout, shout for joy, sing for joy, crieth, cry out, shout aloud
We have much to sing and shout about this morning. Yes we may look around and see some things that we would like to be different, but still we have much to be joyful about. Satan just loves for to consider only the doom and gloom of life.
If we feel that our life is hard let us realize that it could be far worse. No matter what comes into our lives God will always be the same. No matter how weak we become God is always present in his strength and power. No matter how far we may feel to be removed from life God is there with us.
We should always remember that we are in God’s hand and that we are safe. Yes the terrors of this life will come but we can sing a song of joy because our God is stronger than anything this world or Satan can throw at us. At the end of the day we may be tattered and torn but we will still be in our God’s hand.
As we struggle along life’s path we can sing a song of joy because our God is still King, our God is still on His throne, our God will see us through to the end. And when we reach the end we are at the beginning of the rest of eternity. What a JOY!
Amen

Waiting and Trusting
Psalms 37:34 - Wait on the LORD, and keep his way, and he shall exalt thee to inherit the land: when the wicked are cut off, thou shalt see [it].
Psalms 37:35 - I have seen the wicked in great power, and spreading himself like a green bay tree.
Psalms 37:36 - Yet he passed away, and, lo, he [was] not: yea, I sought him, but he could not be found.
Psalms 37:37 - Mark the perfect [man], and behold the upright: for the end of [that] man [is] peace.
Psalms 37:38 - But the transgressors shall be destroyed together: the end of the wicked shall be cut off.
Psalms 37:39 - But the salvation of the righteous [is] of the LORD: [he is] their strength in the time of trouble.
Psalms 37:40 - And the LORD shall help them, and deliver them: he shall deliver them from the wicked, and save them, because they trust in him.
Lord bless us with wisdom and strength to trust in thee and thee alone. May the God heaven and keep each of us today.

Because He Lives
The song says “Because he lives I can face tomorrow”.
I say:
Because he lives I live.
Because he rose I will rise.
Because he first loved me I can love him.
Because he suffered I will not have to.
Because he lives I have more than tomorrow to look forward to.
Because he is love I can love.
Because of my sins he was smitten and afflicted of God.
Because of my transgressions he was wounded.
Because of my iniquities he was bruised.
Because of his stripes I am healed.

Trespasses
Matthew 6:14 & 15 - For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will forgive you: But if you forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
This is a simple concept to understand, if we do not forgive trespasses our will not forgive us. The question is what is a trespass?
Trespass – To commit any offense or to do any act that injures or annoys another; to violate any rule of rectitude to the injury of another. To fall beside or near something, a lapse or deviation from truth and uprightness, a sin, misdeed.
If I understand the applications of these definitions of the word trespass, anyone of us at anytime can SIN and against anyone we come in contact with. Our Lord instructs us to forgive others the failings and he will forgive us ours.
Peter asked the Lord how many times should he forgive and the Lord replied, “until seventy time seven”? Considering that most of us work about a 10 hour day that works out to be about 49 times per hour.
So let’s let the forgiving begin.
Amen

If My People
2 Chronicles 7:12 - And the LORD appeared to Solomon by night, and said unto him, I have heard thy prayer, and have chosen this place to myself for an house of sacrifice.
2 Chronicles 7:13 - If I shut up heaven that there be no rain, or if I command the locusts to devour the land, or if I send pestilence among my people;
2 Chronicles 7:14 - If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
If the rain is stop will have shortages of all types, if the land is devoured there is destruction, and if pestilence comes sickness and death will follow. The Lord says if I send these it is because of a problem among the people. Then the Lord tells us when these things come if My People will HUMBLE themselves and PRAY, and SEEK my face, and TURN from their wicked ways; I will hear from heaven and will forgive THEIR sin, and will heal THEIR land.
Can we look around us today and say the Lord has not sent shortages, destruction, and sickness to our land?
Amen

Put On Your Armor Before The Battle Starts!
Ephesians 6:13 - Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
Three points to consider regarding the armor of God.
We are instructed to put it own. Armor lying in a corner collecting dust never helps anyone.
For armor to be effective it must be put on before the battle starts. Not only must it be put on but it must be worn in practice to gain strength in its effective use.
When we put this armor on we will have done all we can to stand, the rest is in the Lord’s hand. All things are in the Lord’s hands but this is something that he has given us to do that we may be strengthened for the battles of life.
May the Lord bless us to not only know what his armor is but to practice using it everyday that we live.
Amen

Help Us
Help us dear Lord to see thee this day. Help us to know that as we look at one another we are looking at thee. Help us to understand that by serving one another we are serving thee. Tender our hearts with the thought that as we tend to the needs of the least of thine we are tending to thee.
Help us to see thy blessing in the trials that come our way in this life. Help us to know that no matter how sore the trial or hard the sting of life you are there and you will not leave us alone. Help us to receive strength from the understanding that you are God and that besides thee there is none other.
Help us to keep these thoughts in our minds as we live through this day.
Amen

Evil Communications
1 Corinthians 15:33 - Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners.
Deceived – to lead astray
Evil Communications – wicked intercourse
Corrupt – destroy
In the context this verse is used Paul is giving us a very important warning regarding our own nature. Paul is telling us not to be over confident in our own strength. Paul said in another place that he could do all things through Christ. Paul was not deceived about where his strength came from.
A common belief today is that we can see and do anything we wish and not be affected. This is contrary to our nature and contrary to the word of God. The word of God teaches us to avoid relations with those things that are contrary to the good manors that our Lord and savor teaches us.
There are only eight words in this little verse but if they were heeded many of our troubles simply would not exist.

Railing
1 Corinthians 5:11 - But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat.
Rail - To utter reproaches; to scoff, to use insolent and reproachful language
This word would be used in connection with “Be ye angry and sin not”. When we are angry we are most apt to say things that are hurtful and often untrue. When we are angry we often without thinking we often say things that are said only for the purpose of hurting or cutting to the heart. Words and phrases that fit under the category of “railing” often do more to inflame than resolve a situation. Railing will often do more to destroy a relationship that to resolve a problem. In short railing is a means of hurting a person without actually touching them.
Sadly we often see walk away from an argument and say I told him or her off or I got a load off my chest. In most cases what just happened is what Paul is telling us a child of God should not do. If we know ourselves we can prevent this hurtful activity by simply refusing to allow it to happen. By knowing ourselves we can remove ourselves from a situation or keep ourselves from getting into a situation where our temper is apt to flare. If we believe we can not control our temper then we also have to believe that Paul did not know what he was talking about, which also means that God did not know what he was talking about.
If we do not know ourselves the Lord is the first stop is finding out who and what we are. Following his instruction is that first line of defense in keeping ourselves holy and without blame.
Amen

Guide Me
Unto to thee O Lord I lift my prayers that you might bless this day to begin with fresh thoughts of thee and that I might feel the sweetness of thy tender love.
Guide my thoughts that I would be able to remember thee in all that I do.
Guide my eyes in such away that I would be able to see thee and thy blessings in all that life brings me.
Guide my hands that the work I do would be to thy honor and glory and to the uplifting of those that love thee.
Guide my feet that I will be able walk as a servant of and almighty God should.
Shield thy people O Lord from all terrors of this life. Help us O Lord, to remember that this earth is thy footstool and nothing is greater than thee.
