"And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose." ( Romans 8:28 )
|
It seems that over and over again I always get back to this verse of scripture when I am studying in this 8th chapter of Romans. I find that this verse is like John 3:16 in that it is one of the most misused scriptures in the Bible. As the word world is missed used, so is the words (all things). As we live here in this life we know and understand that there are many things that does not work to our good. If this were not so, then it would not matter what kind of life we lived because it would work to our good anyway. Just for instance going out and stealing from my brethren would not work for my good nor theirs. We could list many things that would not work for our own good or theirs, but the text says; "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God." The key to this verse is the words (working together). I remember back years ago when we were still working mules on the farm. Sometimes you can get a pair of mules that just does not work together and ruin a corn crop trying to make them work together. Good only works together with good. Good and evil has never worked together and never will because they work against one another. This is getting pretty lengthy for a devotion, so maybe more on this later.
