Under clear skies, wind from the west at one mph, with the temperature at 61 degrees.

"And they stoned Stephen, calling upon God, and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit. And he kneeled down, and cried with a loud voice, Lord, lay not this sin to their charge. And when he had said this, he fell asleep." (Acts 7:59-60)

I have often wondered if I was to be persecuted like the saints of old, like Stephen was at this moment, how would I hold up, would I continue to stand for the faith as this man did? It is easy to say that we would stand, yet when the chips are down it becomes a different ball park for us. Yet I noticed something in this chapter that I never gave a lot of thought to before. As they were stoning him he looked up and saw Christ standing on the right hand of God. "And said, Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the son of man standing on the right hand of God." If we are to be persecuted the only way to endure would be to see Jesus. Jesus takes the fear out of death as he welcomes his children home. Just another thought this morning.
