"I charge you by the Lord that this epistle be read unto all the holy brethren. (First Thessalonians 5:27)
|
This ought to tell us of how important it is to read the scriptures. To study the scriptures, to mediate. I try to encourage the brethren to do this and tell them to ask me questions after you read these scriptures. There are not many that will follow through with this exhortation. I have been preaching to some over twenty-five years that has never asked me what something meant. It could be they are already schooled in the doctrine and practive of the church or maybe do not read at all and they think that it might show the minister of how little they read. Be that as it may, but for sure Paul loved the brethren and was looking out for their best interest. This letter is just filled with the resurrection morning, about that glorious day that we will be raised in power, to meet the Lord in the air.
