"And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ." (First Thessalonians 5:23)

There are those that believe in soul sleeping, but this text deny that doctrine. "And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly;" This includes the body, the soul, the spirit that Paul is praying that it will be sanctified and preserved until the coming of Jesus. Some might say well the spirit and the soul just goes to sleep and is in some sort of limbo until that resurrection morning and it will be awakened when our body is changed. When A person passes from this life he leaves the body, that is the spirit and soul leaves the body, This body is a temporary dwelling place for us to get around in as we travel through this life. and when death comes our spirit and soul goes back to him who paid for it and the body goes back to the dust of the earth, but Jesus is coming again and when he comes he is going to reunite our spirit and soul with our changed bodies because our bodies has been paid for also.
