"Abstain from all appearance of evil." (First Thessalonians 5:22)

Have you heard those that say that I can keep all my old friends that I had prior to being converted to the gospel truth? Have you heard those that quit Drugs say, Yes but I still have my same friends? The list goes on and on. Paul says; "Abstain from all appearance of evil." You see not only evil but the appearance of evil. Then we have those that might say; I want to be in with the end group, I will not partake of their evil deeds, but just go along for the ride. My father always said that if you hang around with a dog that has flees, you will soon get flees. The problem is that you will not know that you have flees until you have already gotten them. Then there is pressure that comes from those that you want to run with. Ah, come on, just one is not going to hurt you, try it you might like it. How do I know all of this? Well I am now sixty-three years of age and like they say; Experience is the best teacher. It is kind of like being on a diet and going to the best eating places. I am just going to be around all that great food, but I am not going touch it. "Abstain from all appearance of evil."
