"Come see a man, which told me all things that ever I did: is not this the Christ" (John 4:29)
|
Sometimes we get to thinking that being born again and conversion is one and the same, but not so. Only after the new birth can a person be converted and this holds true with this woman at the well. After Christ revealed to her first that she had five husbands and the person that she was living with was not her husband did she feel the weight of sin upon her. Prior to this she was already a seeker waiting for the coming of Christ, the annointed one of God, then and only then was conversion brought forth to her mind, then as Christ told her that he was the Christ she got so excited that she forgot all about what she had come to the well for. She then ran into the city with the good news, "Come see a man, which told me all things that ever I did." Stop and think awhile as you read this and think about what she must have felt as the weight of sin bore down upon her and that she was blessed to see with her own eyes the blessed Saviour, Jesus Christ.
