Happenings

So many things have transpired in the past few months.

• Just before Mother's Day, our beautiful Sister Alma Durough (profiled in previous newsletter) left this earth to be with the Lord. Her place on the second pew sits empty and leaves us all with a sense of loss every week. We know she is happy now and much better off, but her precious face and delicate little voice raised in song will never be replaced. We were delighted to have her son, Elder Greg Durough to preach for us, but regret it was under such sad circumstances.

• Brother Doug Edwards was ordained to the office of deacon on the second Sunday in May. Elder Clem Cook of Ordway, CO, Elder Ray Moore of Colorado Springs, our pastor, Elder Donald Grantham, our deacons, Phil Kastelic and Greg Harris, and several visiting deacons formed the clergy. It was a blessed meeting and we are grateful to the Lord for providing us another laborer in the vineyard.

• The church yard has been landscaped. Just about everyone helped some, but the bulk of the work and kudos go to sister Debbie Grantham and Brother Greg Harris.

• Elder Thomas Bond, pastor of the Cozad, Nebraska church visited with us and filled the stand. His message was inspired and very well received. We hope he and his wife will visit often.

• Fifth Sunday Meeting in June was held in Colorado Springs. The meeting was well attended and a blessing to all. Colorado Springs Church plans to make this an annual meeting for their church.

• We were sorry to have Elder Hulan Bass notify us that he would be unable to attend our June communion meeting, but it was a precious weekend. We hope to have Elder Bass with us at a later time. It seems they had a new grandchild arrive at about that time. May God bless this family

• We have been blessed with a visit and preaching by Elder Clifford Gowens from Dallas, TX. He and his wife, Lenore are her occasionally to visit daughter and son-in-law, Joe and Dena Pauletti. They actually primarily come to see the grandchildren!
